Going to Siem Reap (4th Feb 2006)
Fly to Siem Reap by Airasia on 4 Feb, a week after Chinese New Year. I had Huay Mein, Siew Ling, Fion and Tuck Seng with me. We reached Siem Reap at 1135 local time , the time difference is 1 hour earlier than Malaysia. We didn't book any accomodation before coming, but had decided to stay around Old Market area. We boarded the taxi and hearded to the town area. Finally, we settled down at Ancient Angkor Guesthouse. It's a new guesthouse, run by Khmer. Fan room, attached bathroom and with TV, cost USD 10 . But as we are staying for 5 nights, we are getting the price of USD 8. It's a good deal, the room is clean, the owners are very friendly and helpful.
We bought the admission ticket for 3 days , starting from the next day and it cost USD 40. Althought the ticket starts counts from the next day, they allowed the tourist to enter the temples after 6pm. So, we took this opportunity to view the sunset at Phomn Bakheng. Phomn Bakheng is the hilltop temple. The tourists have to trek up the small hill before reach the temple. Bakheng is crowded with people, difficult to find good spot to take photos. The sunset is normal, not as beautiful as the postcard..hahaha.....
